As I’m sure everyone is aware, recent studies of a new Microraptor fossil suggest that it sported black iridescent plumage (yay for melanosomes!), which I thought would work perfectly on black paper.
I studied the plumage of Glossy Starlings and Ravens to get a good feel for the iridescence.
Done in coloured pencils.
